About Misfit Wanders (that’s me) is that I am an American lady that loves to travel. For almost 5 years now, I have lived in Sweden, where I’ve been being a misfit that wanders. This is where my hubby and I are working on renovating our dream home as well! The time still comes that calls to me to travel. I still travel, just not as long as I use to. There are several hikes and outdoor areas that I love to visit in Sweden. But this is a bit harder now since I’m going to a University full time and now we have a little misfit!
My Blog
With this blog, I write about my experiences, adventures, and I create little stories of other worlds. My stories that I have are here for all to see. So if you want to feel like you’re some where else, take a step into my writings. Enjoy the way I describe or just write.
Sometimes I get lost in my mind. So some of my writings are of my emotions coming to life from the obstacles that I have endured. Others are of things I have seen, or my opinions. I can get a little crazy when it comes to politics! But I’m focusing on my hikes throughout Sweden nowadays. It calms my mind and I get to enjoy nature, one of my favorite pass times!

The Wandering Misfit
I am a misfit and never have really fit in. As a child, that bothered me. I was always the oddball in a group of friends or even in the family. But now, I cherish it. It has made me into the person that I am today. My perspective is different because of how I have been the outcast. Thus, I created, Misfit Wanders! This is a place that other lovers of nature can check out and maybe plan a trip to the hiking trails in Sweden!
Fun Facts About Misfit Wanders:
7 Car Pile up
I was in a fatal car crash, where I had to re-learn how to walk and use my brain. This was when I was traveling to California for work from South Dakota. It was black ice that did it and the accident turned into a 7 car pile up. Luckily, I was the last one there. I got a Traumatic Brain Injury from it. Nowadays, I’m thankful to be alive and feel like myself again! From this accident, I learned that you should never give up! It’s my stubbornness that helped me keep pushing to get better.
The Good Ole Farm Life
I used to be a farmer in Northern Cali for about 5 years. It was great spending everyday outdoors on a mountainside since I enjoy hiking and being in nature! The place I stayed at had no reception or internet, so it was the perfect place for me to reflect on myself, since I had nothing to distract me. It was just me and my doggie living on that mountain for around 4-6 months of the year. Then a crew of people to help harvest would show up, and I would have to work on socializing with humans again!
Hitch Hiker
For around a year, I hitch hiked the west coast. I even tried train hopping. That is a whole different kind of world in itself. That helped me realize how to judge a person within 10 seconds and, that there are still good people in the world. I felt what it was like to be poor and not certain on where I would sleep for the night. It really opened my eyes and helped me become humble. I try not to take anything for granted.
Spread out American Family
I have family all over in the US, so I have traveled a lot. My hubby and I had a 6 month road trip in the states as our honeymoon. We traveled in our van with our dog and two cats! My hubby and I created a bed frame, where underneath we could store many items. Then on top, was our bed! Our cats lives, at the time, was spent more on the road than in one place. Crazy, right!?
Equality for All!
My whole life, I have been about equality for all. So I’m a feminist. Since living in Sweden, I have joined the Feminist Initiative political party. Being a feminist just means that I believe everyone should be treated the same, no matter gender, race, sex preference or age.

The hostel boomed with music and crowds of people chatting away. It was like this almost every night. My niece was filled with excitement to see this party place full of likeminded thinkers. Our age difference is about 10 years. With her at 18, and me at 28. Having that
The weather had been on our side, but not for long. Clouds swept over the sky and it became darker. The sun kept fighting to shine, but it wasn’t working. Once we were on the bus to Hoge Veluwe National Park, the rain abruptly came down. It felt nice to
Adrenaline was pumping in my ears. I had so much worry that I would hurt my already damaged head even more! We rounded up our crew and to my disbelief, there were 5 of us that were newbies. It was a relief. I wasn’t alone! I think it took around
As I walked away from the train, I saw my fur ball standing next to my hubby. He hadn’t noticed me yet. As I crept closer, he saw me and stared at me in disbelief! His eyes were wide as I gave him a hug. After our hug, I gave
Smoke overtook the sky as we began to walk closer to the forest road. People were sprawled out in groups through the forest. Many had a campfire going and roasted hot dogs, while others were having trouble just standing. It’s a day where the forests are filled with drunk people
I paged through the Lonely Planet book. My niece said, “We have to do some kind of pampering!” So we finally agreed, a spa day. We would get our nails done on our hands and feet. Plus, a massage each. The price was not so bad at Lemongrass. They gave
My journey had started in USA, which has included hitchhiking, weed farming, and even overcoming a traumatic brain injury. All of this fuels my passion for sharing stories and inspiring others to embrace the beauty of the world's natural wonders and diverse cultures.
Through Misfit Wanders, I aim to spark an eco-conscious mindset in travelers. My blog posts are a gateway to eco-friendly and immersive experiences, encouraging everyone to leave a positive impact while exploring our incredible planet. Now, I have an upcoming book that’s loosely based on my traumatic brain injury that’s inspirational and shows how nature has a huge impact on healing. Plus, I’m a mind & body coach that helps guide people to tend to their inner garden and make their life what they want it to be! We can't forget that I'm also a speaker that has inspired many from my tales!
