The buildings look pristine, covered in gold. Buddhist statues covered the inside, where many can pray to them. Two snakes with eight heads led the way to many different kind of royal palace buildings. I was left in amazement.
In this bustling city of Phnom Penh, it still holds a bit of beauty. In the first day and a half in cambodia, we visited a temple, the royal palace, and a night market.
Once the sun dipped down, nightlife began. My haggling skills on prices was becoming better. The common way to travel was by tuktuk. That was where the bartering on price was needed the most.
The night market lies by a river. People crowded the area and several shops were side by side, leaving only a little room to walk by. I felt as though I was a cow in a herd. It was hard to stop and look at things with many people in front and back of us.
Music filled the air and someone began singing on a big stage. Rugs covered the ground in the middle of the food area. Some people were clustered in little groups on the rugs, enjoying the local food.
But an eerie feeling from the town clung to me. It was a bad feeling, and it wasn’t subsiding. I was ready to leave.
Throughout our travels in Cambodia, we had learned that Phnom Penh was the most dangerous place in Cambodia. Bag snatchers, thieves, and buying of people.
Next adventure, we are off to Kompong Cham!
