Sweden Rally in 2019

February 28, 2019 | Posted by misfitwanders | Adventures, Lifestyles, Party, Sweden, Traveling

Smoke overtook the sky as we began to walk closer to the forest road. People were sprawled out in groups through the forest. Many had a campfire going and roasted hot dogs, while others were having trouble just standing. It’s a day where the forests are filled with drunk people and exhaust from the rally cars. This is something Sweden prides themselves with. The Sweden Rally.

Each guard stood near the road with a whistle in hand. Waiting for the time when the roaring engines would begin! As the clock ticked closer to the time, some people began to get rambunctious. Finally, the announcement began a quick countdown.

The first car was only seen in a flash. I had no time with the camera. We were more prepared for the next one as it zoomed past. Its speed vibrated throughout the forest. The friction on the road picked up sparks as the next car flew past.

We walked close to the road so we could see the action in different angles. The sound of each car thrummed inside my ears as they came closer to the area we stood in. My eyes scanned the crowd taking in many drunken people from all over the world. Flags were spread out to show their homeland. One man dressed in an outfit that had a leprechaun attached. Another guy wore a jester hat. His eyes were glazed over as he grasped his drink as if his life depended on it.

The racing barely had begun and many people were having trouble standing. Die hard rally fans camp out here weeks in advance. The forests become one big party! I guess, that’s one way to do it!
